Two types of “Г”
The Ukrainian alphabet actually includes two versions from the letter “Г”.
One character akin to the “ordinary” Slavic “Г г”, represents a guttural fricative sound between “Г” and “Х”, as with what “говорити” or “гора”. A character available as correspondence “Ґ ґ” is really a voiced sonorous sound.
You can find minimal original Ukrainian words together with the letter “Ґ”, only onomatopoeias(as an example, “ґaвa” - crow) and foreign borrowings (“ґанок” - porch, from German “Gang”). The letter is additionally employed for the transmission of foreign own names having a voiced G: Ґете, Вінніпеґ. However, according to the current spelling rules using “Ґ” is optional and could be replaced by more widespread “Г”. This excellent character appeared in Ukrainian alphabet only in the 1990s.
The most typical letter in Ukrainian alphabet is “П”
The biggest amount of words starts off with this character. There are even whole stories composed of words beginning with letter only “П” - Приїздіть, пане Павле,- писав поважний правитель повіту Полікарп. The sentence that starts the storyplot means Visit us, Mr. Pavel, - wrote the respectable ruler in the county Polycarp.
The smoothness “Ф” will be the least used letter in the Ukrainian alphabet. Within the most of cases, words which commence with this letter found Ukrainian using their company languages.
Calling all gentlemen
Nouns in Ukrainian have seven cases. One of them is the vocative сase or, literally, “the calling case” - кличний. Historically, the “calling” form was an element of the Indo-European system of cases and existed in Latin, Sanskrit, and Ancient greek language. For example, the phrase “пан” (master, sir) carries a vocative case, during the plural - ” панове”, which corresponds to the good thing about “gentlemen”.
